Often my psychic development students ask me if the moon’s cycles or even the time of the year can have an effect on their psychic sensitivity as well as their emotions.

The answer is yes.

Almost everyone is aware these days that the full moon certainly does affect people’s emotions.  It’s a fact that mental institutions, prisons, and police forces usually have more staff on during the full moon, or at least expect more activity.  But what many people don’t know is that what strongly affects your emotions also affects your psychic sensitivity.  For some people that’s a good thing, for others it’s not so good.

Are you the person who responds to stress positively, and takes intelligent action when faced with an emergency?  If that is your natural tendency, then the full moon will likely have a positive effect on your psychic senses, stimulating them in much the same way it stimulates your emotions.

But if you are the person who becomes over-emotional, over-sensitive, confused, depressed, or anxious when faced with stressful situations, you will likely respond to the energy of the full moon in much the same way and it is likely that your psychic senses will either shut down or become unreliable when there is a full moon.

Which one are you?  If you are the first, the full moon will be a great time for you to practice your psychic skills; if you are the latter, either don’t practice on or around the full moon, or if you do employ some form of powerful psychic protection so you will be less subject to those negative influences.

People often forget about the new moon.  Yet it has the same ability to deeply affect both your emotions and your psychic perceptions as the full moon does.  When I was first learning to develop my own psychic senses I found that all of my skills improved around both the full moon and the new moon, and that meditations of all kinds were much more powerful around the new moon.

Likewise, just as the cycles of the moon can affect our psychic sensitivities, so can the time of year.  Each of the Equinoxes and the Solstices are times when psychic sensitivity is enhanced, as is the time around Halloween, or All Saints Day.

Psychics say that the ‘veil between the worlds’ is thinnest at that time.  The fact is, that all of your psychic work, from meditation to divination to working with tools like astrology or tarot, to spirit communication and even channeling will be easier to accomplish at and around these times.

Lastly, the time of day can even have an effect on your psychic sensitivity. Pay attention to your energy level during the day.  Those times of the day that you normally have your highest energy level will usually be the times you are also most able to do active psychic work like reading cards or sending thoughts.

But those times of day when your energy is more relaxed – not over tired, just relaxed – will be the times you are most receptive to the thoughts and feelings of others.

I invite you to explore your own highs and lows by keeping a journal.  Not everyone responds the same way emotionally to outer stimulus, so it follows that everyone’s psychic senses will also follow their own pattern.

What’s yours?
